Notes On Darcy/Elizabeth/ Wickham

Quotes:

" Even Wckham had allowed him merit as a brother" p.154 (referring to Darcy)

Anecdotes:


Wickham meets Elizabeth for the last time and acts strangely. She speaks as to trigger some unusual reaction. His behavior helps prove Darcy's words.


Elizabeth meets Darcy as she visits Pemberley. He behaves with much civility to her surprise. Her response to him is more favorable and they begin to grow more acquainted. p. 182


Mr. Darcy arranges for Elizabeth to meet Miss Darcy at his petition. She meets MR. Bingley and her impression of the group differs from that she held at Netherfield.


Miss Bingley's jealousy overcomes her prudence and she talks ill about Elizabeth before Mr. Darcy. He admits his preference for her as a response. p.201


Conclusions:


First impressions begin to prove themselves wrong. Wickham's real story reflects characteristics contrary to his "seems".


Mr. Darcy narrates the truth behind past events. Elizabeth's comprehension of these both change her view on individuals and plunge her into secrecy. She begins to become more independent from her family.


Mr. Darcy And Elizabeth begin to grow close together. A renewal of his offering is foreshadowed.
